Summary

The young girl looked so innocent, like a sleeping angel。 Kelsey lay on a bed of white sheets, golden hair fanned across the pillow, eyes closed, pale lips pressed together。 A white teddy bear was tucked under her slender arm… “My baby, she’s dead” her distraught mother choked out。

When the call comes in that fifteen-year-old Kelsey Tiller has gone missing from her bedroom in the middle of the night, Detective Ellie Reeves rushes to talk to her distraught parents。 They tell her that Kelsey, a slender blond with green eyes and a timid smile, had plans to go shopping for her homecoming dress the next day, insisting she would have no reason to run away。 But when neighbors report seeing Kelsey with a secret boyfriend, Ellie wonders how much Kelsey really told her parents。

Ellie is determined to find Kelsey’s boyfriend and interviews her friends and teachers at school。 But just as she is making headway with the case, she receives some devastating news。 Kelsey’s parents have received a photo of their daughter lying on a bed with white sheets over her body, skin ghostly pale under the freckles dotting her nose, her precious life snuffed out。

Desperate to find answers for those who loved Kelsey, Ellie studies the picture and realizes that her body has been posed in the same way as a teenage girl murdered ten years earlier。 And when she learns Darnell, the killer in that case, has just been released from prison, fear crawls through her。 Could Darnell have stolen another innocent life?

But just as Ellie thinks she has cracked the case, Kelsey’s best friend Ruby is snatched from her home, and Darnell has an unbreakable alibi。 Haunted by Kelsey’s ashen face, Ellie knows she must race against time to find Ruby alive。 And when she discovers one of her team is hiding critical information, she realizes she needs to act alone。 But is she dealing with a twisted copycat killer or is the danger far closer to home?

A totally gripping and pulse-pounding crime thriller that will have you holding your breath as you race through the pages! Perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh。

Detective Elle Reeves has been called to a home where the teenaged daughter is missing。 When the parents receive a picture of the girl posed the same as a young girl killed 10 years ago Elle immediately thinks of the convicted killer who has just been released from jail。 When another girl disappears and the convicted killer has an alibi Elle realizes she has very little time to find her before she is killed。 Is there a copycat killer in the area or was the convicted killer actually innocent。 The Detective Elle Reeves has been called to a home where the teenaged daughter is missing。 When the parents receive a picture of the girl posed the same as a young girl killed 10 years ago Elle immediately thinks of the convicted killer who has just been released from jail。 When another girl disappears and the convicted killer has an alibi Elle realizes she has very little time to find her before she is killed。 Is there a copycat killer in the area or was the convicted killer actually innocent。 The race to save the young girl is on。 The tension and suspense in this book starts from the first page。 This is definitely a page turner。 Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy。 。。。more

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read an advance copy of The sleeping girls by Rita Herron, the 9th book in the Detective Ellie Reeves series。 I was hooked right away as soon as I started reading。 With a plot that includes cyber bullying, which is rampant in today's society, a teenage girl is kidnapped, and the clues match an old crime scene。 Ellie, and her team, which includes FBI agent Derrick Fox, and Ranger Cord McClain。 Since the beginning of the series, both of these me Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read an advance copy of The sleeping girls by Rita Herron, the 9th book in the Detective Ellie Reeves series。 I was hooked right away as soon as I started reading。 With a plot that includes cyber bullying, which is rampant in today's society, a teenage girl is kidnapped, and the clues match an old crime scene。 Ellie, and her team, which includes FBI agent Derrick Fox, and Ranger Cord McClain。 Since the beginning of the series, both of these men have been interested in Ellie, and I have been in the dark which way the relationships will go。 What I enjoyed was not only the fast paced plot, but the characters are totally believable! The Sleeping Girls by Rita Herron is a highly recommended police procedural and the ninth book in the Ellie Reeves series。 Ellie is again working with FBI Agent Derrick Fox and SAR Cord McCain。Detective Ellie Reeves from the small town of Crooked Creek in the Appalachian Mountains investigates the case of missing fifteen-year-old Kelsey Tiller in nearby Red Clay Mountain。 It seems she disappeared from her bedroom, but evidence shows she went outside via her window。 Neighbors say they saw her wit The Sleeping Girls by Rita Herron is a highly recommended police procedural and the ninth book in the Ellie Reeves series。 Ellie is again working with FBI Agent Derrick Fox and SAR Cord McCain。Detective Ellie Reeves from the small town of Crooked Creek in the Appalachian Mountains investigates the case of missing fifteen-year-old Kelsey Tiller in nearby Red Clay Mountain。 It seems she disappeared from her bedroom, but evidence shows she went outside via her window。 Neighbors say they saw her with a secret boyfriend even though she is not allowed to date。 Even though Kelsey is well-liked, evidence is found of teenage cyber-bullying toward her and her two friends。 Before Ellie finds Kelsey, a heartbreaking picture is sent to her mother and another girl is missing。During this same time "Digger" Darnell Woodruff is released from prison due to the work of the Innocence Project and true crime podcaster Caitlin O'Connor。 He was convicted of killing his sister ten years earlier while sleepwalking。 There may be similarities between Kelsey's case and what happened years ago, but Darnell has an alibi。 Could he still be the perpetrator or is something else going on in Red Clay Mountain? The writing is very good and the drama will hold your attention throughout。 Readers will know from the first chapter that someone who does not have good intentions is watching Kelsey and her two friends。 The narrative switches between the perspective of different characters, including the unnamed killer, creating tension and suspense while propelling the action forward。 Short chapters with the different points-of-view help keep the pace fast and interest high。 The ending is very satisfying。The ongoing attraction and the tension it creates between Ellie and Cord is a plot thread for those following the whole series。 This is only my second book from the series so, to be honest, I didn't really care。 I was reading for the procedural and mystery rather than any romance。 Readers can jump into the series and, as I did, read The Sleeping Girls as a standalone novel for the procedural, however, if you want a more complete picture of the characters personalities and the ongoing interaction between them you might want to start at the beginning。Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader's copy。 My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion。http://www。shetreadssoftly。com/2024/0。。。 。。。more

Detective Ellie Reeves jumps right into her latest case when a teen girl goes missing。 Before she even has enough clues to really search, yet another girl also disappears。 Any time a case involves children, this has a a particularly strong effect on Ellie。 Meanwhile, with her friend, and once hoped for love, Ranger Cord McClain, injured, Ellie finds herself rather torn。 Ellie and Cord work quite well together, as she often finds herself looking for missing people, but the question as to whether Detective Ellie Reeves jumps right into her latest case when a teen girl goes missing。 Before she even has enough clues to really search, yet another girl also disappears。 Any time a case involves children, this has a a particularly strong effect on Ellie。 Meanwhile, with her friend, and once hoped for love, Ranger Cord McClain, injured, Ellie finds herself rather torn。 Ellie and Cord work quite well together, as she often finds herself looking for missing people, but the question as to whether or not the pair will ever get together remains uncertain。 This is especially so with a very serious situation involving Cord that will no doubt impact his future。 Then there is Special Agent Derrick Fox。 and the undeniable bond he shares with Ellie。 There is another powerful aspect of this latest book in Rita Herron's series, and that is that readers get the killer's perspective woven into the pages of this already intense book。 The way the killer gets the attention of the parents and Ellie is nothing short of chilling。 Ellie is a remarkable detective and always shows a personal interest in her cases, even when things that affect her personally cause her to worry。 It is the mix of both professional and personal where Ellie is concerned that makes this book - this entire series, in fact - compelling。 The girls that have gone missing are connected socially and this knowledge just might help Ellie, even though we know that the killer has murder in mind。Although I have read and loved all of the previous books in this series, each book could work as a standalone novel。 However, to know the back stories of Ellie, Cord and Derrick, reading them in order might be of great benefit。 Rita Herron, bring on book 10。 I can hardly wait to see what is next in store for Ellie。Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review。 This is my honest opinion。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of The Sleeping Girls by Rita Herron。 I’ve not read any of the previous books in this series。 At first, I thought I was reading a Lisa Regan book。 Everything is so similar。 Overall the story is pretty good。 I think if I had read the rest of the series first, I would have been more into it。 I enjoyed the story and characters but wasn’t invested and that’s on me since I’m still new to them and haven’t seen their growth yet。 If you’re a fan of Lisa Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of The Sleeping Girls by Rita Herron。 I’ve not read any of the previous books in this series。 At first, I thought I was reading a Lisa Regan book。 Everything is so similar。 Overall the story is pretty good。 I think if I had read the rest of the series first, I would have been more into it。 I enjoyed the story and characters but wasn’t invested and that’s on me since I’m still new to them and haven’t seen their growth yet。 If you’re a fan of Lisa Regan, you’ll definitely enjoy this series。 。。。more

The plot had lots of twist and turns and kept me guessing into the book。 Highly recommend this book/series 。。。more

I absolutely love this series。 There is always a great suspenseful mystery and the story keeps you guessing until the conclusion。 Goodness please let Ellie get a HEA。 This poor woman just can’t seem to catch a break。 I was so excited a few books back when she finally had a personal revaluation but since then there has been one roadblock after another。Evil whispered around him as he entered, shadows flickering as if Anna Marie’s ghost had been awakened。This one kept me on my toes and glued to the I absolutely love this series。 There is always a great suspenseful mystery and the story keeps you guessing until the conclusion。 Goodness please let Ellie get a HEA。 This poor woman just can’t seem to catch a break。 I was so excited a few books back when she finally had a personal revaluation but since then there has been one roadblock after another。Evil whispered around him as he entered, shadows flickering as if Anna Marie’s ghost had been awakened。This one kept me on my toes and glued to the pages。 。。。more
